As previously mentioned, "over-the-top" and casting, they go hand in hand, are the most common manipulations amateurs use to counteract a block and are by far the worst of the manipulations available to a golfer.

 


CASTING THE CLUB - premature unhinging of the wrists during the downswing.

Casting: The forming of a clubhead by pouring molten steel into a mold. Casting produces a harder clubhead than one that has been shaped by forging.

Casting: An uncocking of the wrists prematurely on the downswing, resulting in a loss of power and control. Also known as "hitting from the top.

Casting is a huge reason why so many players don't hit the ball with as much power as they would like. This means they're throwing the club from the top of the swing, resulting in an early release and a huge loss of power.

The investment casting process used to produce irons, putters, and metal woods that initially involves making a master model of the club head. A mold is then made from this master. Wax is injected into these molds forming a duplicate of the club head.

Many beginners are guilty of casting the club to try to hit the ball high and far. (Pssst, it doesn't work) 2. Cast irons have a harder feel than forged irons, as a general rule.
