Cuppy: A deep and enclosed lie.
Cut: Type of shot, played intentionally, which curves from left to right.
Cut Shot: Shot that moves from left to right in the air.

 


Cuppy Lie: When the ball is in a cup-like depression.
Cut: A score that eliminates a percentage of the field (or players) from a tournament. Usually made after 36 holes of a 72-hole event.
Cut Shot: A shot that curves from left to right.

Cuppy Lie: A lie when the ball is sitting down slightly, usually in a small depression. (He had a difficult shot because he had to play from a cuppy lie in the fairway.) ...

The same punch shot is best from a cuppy lie or a lie in a divot, where you have to go down and scrape the ball out. Play the ball back in your stance and lead with your hands into a low follow-through.
