Downhill Lie
Now we can move on to one of the hardest shots in golf, the down hill lie. If you have a tendency to struggle with this shot, the miss hit is usually a top.

Downhill Lie: When addressing the ball and your right foot is higher than your left (for right-handed players).
Downswing: The motion of swinging a club from the top of the swing to the point of impact.

DOWNHILL LIES
This is one of the more challenging shots. The ball tends to go lower and farther, often tailing to the right.
Your left shoulder will be a bit lower than normal at address on a downhill lie.

downhill lie As the name suggests, the ball is positioned on a decline towards the green.
drain Slang for sinking a putt.
draw shot A strategic shot that curves from the outside inwards (right to left for right-handed players).

Downhill Lie: When your right foot is higher than your left when you address the ball (for right-handed players).
Downswing: The part of the swing where the clubhead is moving down, toward the ball.

Downswing: The part of the swing immediately following the backswing during which the club is brought back toward the ball to strike it.

Downhill Lie : When the ball rests on a downhill slope in the intended direction of play.

Downhill Lie This shot is probably the toughest to tackle, as you not only have to contend with the slope, but with the edge of the bunker as well. The first thing I do is adopt a stance that creates balance.

DOWNHILL LIE - the ball is on the downslope of a hill. When a right handed player addresses the ball his right foot will be higher than his left foot.

Downhill Lie Setup
When faced with a downhill lie, do not panic. Transfer your weight more on the upper foot, with the ball played a little more forward in your stance. Do not over swing.
The Uphill Lie ...

A downhill lie will encourage a fade, since you'll tend to shift your weight down that hill on the downswing. When that happens, your body will get out in front and the clubface will tend to be open at impact.

UPHILL / DOWNHILL LIES

Whereas sidehill lies have both feet on ground at the same elevation, uphill and downhill lies make one foot higher than the other.

Golf Tip of the Month: Uphill and Downhill Lies
Whether in a hazard or on a fairway, we've all encountered uncomfortable situations as far as where our ball lies.

Swing back down with the slope, and forward up with the slope.
Downhill Lie
The downhill shot requires a steep downward angle of approach. This makes the ball fly lower and further than normal.
