Effective Loft: The actual loft on a club at impact as opposed to the loft built into the club. Effective loft is determined by, among other things, the lie and the position of the hands relative to the ball at impact.

Effective Loft
He actual face angle at impact created through the relationship of loft and face angle. For example, if a driver has a measured loft of 8 degrees and has a two-degree open face, its effective loft will be @6 degrees.

Effective loft - the loft of a wood when placed in a square position face angle.

An uphill lie increases the effective loft of the club you're using, making the shot fly higher and shorter than normal. Start by taking one or possibly two more clubs than normal.

The usual result is a low, hot shot that scoots past the flag and rolls over the far side of the green.

This will increase the effective loft of the club. The higher you have to hit the ball, the more open and laid back the club should be.

A low-flying shot played with an abbreviated backswing and finish. The key to the shot is having the hands slightly ahead of the clubhead at impact, which reduces the effective loft of the club.

Twist the shaft to the right, opening the clubface and watch the loft increase. Opening the club actually tilts the clubface backward increasing the effective loft. The result is weak, high shots landing short of the target.
