Flop shot A short shot, played with an open stance and an open clubface, designed to travel very high in the air and land softly on the green.
FLOP SHOT To play a high flop shot, set up with your weight more balanced and the ball forward in your stance. Make a bigger swing and let the clubhead pass your hands through impact.

The high flop shot can be very scary for most players. That's because you have to commit to the shot. Speed throughout the hitting area is essential; swing too slow and you will hit the shot heavy, too fast and there is a chance to hit the shot thin.
Nobody wants to lose their weekly nassau on an ill-advised forced carry or foolish attempt at a full-swing flop shot.
Imagine the Possible: Hit flop shots over a tree to a tight pin placement. How close can you get? Play a round with only two or three clubs: You will be surprised to find that your score doesn't vary much from playing with a full set...
Learn more chipping shots. There are many different chip shots. The pitch, chip and run, the flop shot, the one hop and stop shop. You should learn them all to give you a wider variety of choices.
