Golf FormFour Ball

A forward press is a bad trade for a little rhythm in your stroke, and at a minimum requires careful attention to how it is performed to avoid creating problems.

Forward Press: The action of the hands prior to the commencement of the takeaway for a golf shot or putt. It typically involves a slight forward action of the hands toward the target in a modest wrist cocking motion.

Forward Press: Targetward shift of the hands, and perhaps a right knee, just prior to takeaway.

Forward Press: The positioning of the hands in front of the ball at address, usually intended to increase backspin.
Foursome: Group of four players on a round of golf.

Forward Press: A slight movement of the hands and arms (and occasionally the legs) that initiate the golf swing. (A good forward press helps relieve tension in the golf swing).

Forward Press : A slight movement of the hands and arms forward (in the direction of the target) to initiate or trigger the backswing.
Foursome : Four players playing together in a group. Example: My weekly foursome plays at noon on Monday.

The Forward Press
What you don't want to do when you make the forward press, is rotate the putterface open. Instead, make a forward press and keep the clubface square. And don't worry if it looks as though you have excessively delofted the putter.

Next, forward press the handle of the club to deloft the club-face and the hand will start in front of the ball by the left thigh.
After impact the club-head should not pass your hand...

A forward press that is a little too hard can cause the clubface to open. Also, a stiff right arm will cause the clubface to open. If you start your swing from an address position with the clubface open it.

As soon as you complete this forward press, start the putter away from the ball.
Keeping this right-wrist angle consistent throughout the stroke will keep the putterface square to your intended line.
It all starts with this first move.

Buried lie in bunker: slightly closed clubface, forward press your hand a little, majority of your weight on your front foot, steep/vertical backswing (lead with your left arm and keep your right elbow "locked" to its side), ...

Create a routine for short putts, such as looking once at the hole, forward pressing, then stroking. You may want to spot your ball momentarily before putting out, replacing it the way you do on longer putts, e.g., lettering pointing at the target.

With your hands forward over your left thigh, bend your knees and tilt your upper body to allow your arms to hang naturally. With your wrists firm, initiate the shot with a forward press, allowing a low, slow and smooth follow-through.

forward press: A slight push of the hands towards the target to smoothly start the swing.
foursome: A match format where player in teams of two play alternative shots to produce one score.
free drop: A drop incurring no penalty.
