Golf GimmeeGIR

gimmie A short putt which need not be made as determined by an opponent (usually to save time).
green The short grass which constitutes the putting surface.
green fee The fee charged at courses to play on the course.

 


Gimmie: When an opponent decides that it is not necessary to play the next shot, normally because you are close to the hole.
Go to School: To study the travel of a previous putt to 'read' the green.

GIMMIE
A slang word for a putt that is conceded in match play.
GOLF WIDOW(ER) ...

Gimmie
When your ball comes to rest so close to the hole that your opponent decides you may assume that only one stroke would be required to putt it in and offers to allow you to simply count that stroke and pick the ball up.

"Gimmies"

Q. What is the Rule for allowing "gimmies"?

A. The Rules of Golf do not permit the use of "gimmies.

Gimmies & Mulligans: unless in a friendly game, never "give" a shot that matters even if it is really at the limit of remote possibility that the player could miss it.

Gimmie
Very short putt close to a hole, awarded by other players. Only used in match play, or in friendly golf - in stroke play everything must be holed out.
