On a hole, reading begins from the fairway, taking in the lay of the green in the wider context of the surrounding terrain. It continues walking onto the green as the view of the surface contour changes.
"Into the hole" is the part we're most concerned with; the very first rule in the rulebook says that the point of the game is to get the ball into the hole. Once you've done that, your play of that hole is considered finished.

Especially good for beginners but when advanced players get in a slump, this drill or even style works wonders. Try looking at the hole instead of the ball when putting.

Find your own way to create this belief. It will help you expect to lower your golf handicap and therefore WILL lower your golf handicap. The hole is a magnet.
The handicap index is eventually calculated using the ten best of the golfer's most recent twenty scores. The USGA permits taking half the eighteen hole index for a nine hole handicap event.
Place a golf ball about 5 to 6 feet from the hole, then put two tees in the ground, approximately 8 to 10 inches behind the ball. Place them a little farther apart than the length of your putter head.

Hole Handicap
Each score card indicates a handicap number for each hole. The lower the number, the harder the hole is to play.
Hole: A small cylinder cut into the ground, measuring 4 ΒΌ inches in diameter and at least 4 inches deep. It is where you want your ball to eventually end up.
Hole High: A ball that is even with the hole but off to one side.

The 'hole'' must be 41/4 inches (108 mm) in diameter and at least 4 inches (101.6 mm) deep.

Hole in One/ Ace - A hole in one is exactly what its name implies; the (very rare!) feat of putting the ball into a hole in a single stroke.
Hook - A badly played shot which curves slightly to the left.
Hole High: Means that the ball has landed on the green level with the hole as you are looking at it.
Hole in One: A score of one on a hole.
Hook: A shot that curves dramatically from right to left for a right-handed player, or left to right for a left-handed player. A hook is never intentional and curves much more than a draw.

Hitting the ball into the hole from the tee with one shot. Every golfer's dream. Usually only happens on par threes but has occurred on par fours.

A metal club designed to give loft rather than distance. Used for high shots into the green.

To hole a long putt using finesse, the opposite of gobble.

Each hole must be reached in a specific number of shots (par), which usually depends on length. A birdie is a score on any one hole that is one stroke less than par, and an eagle is a score on a hole that is two less than par.

Ace - a hole in one.
Address - the position taken by the player when setting up to play a stroke.
Albatross - three strokes under par on a hole.
Alignment - position of the body in relation to the target.
Eagle
a hole played in two strokes under par.
Even
having a score equal to that of par.
Explosion
a bunker shot that sends the ball, and accompanying sand, (hopefully) onto the green. Also known as a "blast".
When you hole all putts consecutively, extend the length of each putt by a foot and continue trying to hole all four putts. If you sink all of those putts, proceed to Round 3, another foot away, and so on.
