Interlocking grip
This is a type of grip where a golfer links his/her little finger of the left hand with the index finger of the right hand. The opposite applies to a left-handed golfer.

Interlocking Grip
The next most common grip is called the Interlock, or Interlocking. This grip is very popular on the LPGA Tour and has been used by many top male players including Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

Interlocking grip
Grip style where (for right-handed players) the pinkie finger of the right hand is hooked around the index finger of the left. Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods use the interlocking grip.

Example: The relative position of the hands to the club's face is the same in a ten finger/baseball/full finger grip as it is in the other more popular overlapping and interlocking grips.

Having read about the interlocking grip (essentially a minor change in one finger) I tried it - and liked it! That grip now works for me.

The griphic below that shows Tiger Woods' golf grip, it's clear that he uses an interlocking grip.

But, you can make it simple to follow especially for kids and then when they can understand some science, you can then explain the real mechanics, such as why most professionals employ either the Vardon or the Interlocking grip and NOT THE BASEBALL ...

The Fix: Extend your pinkie farther into the gap that separates the knuckles on your glove hand. Another option is to adopt an interlocking grip, where your dominant hand's pinkie and glove hand's index finger "wrap" around each other.

I just started playing last year and up until a month ago I was using a baseball grip, which I knew was wrong, but it felt natural. A more knowledgeable buddy made me change to an interlocking grip which I'm now comfortable with.

Players with smaller hands sometimes find the interlocking grip, with the little finger of the right hand interlocked with the index finger of the left hand, works best for them. Players with smaller should use a baseball type grip.
