jerk-- To strike the ball from a bad lie with a downward cutting motion causing the clubhead to dig into the ground beneath the ball. Also, to abruptly move one's head, arms or other body parts unnaturally during a golf swing.

Jerk : A golf shot that is pulled left of the intended target. Example: I was on the green in two but jerked my putt and only made par.
yank (also "pull, jerk") a shot that goes severely to the left of the target line (for a right-handed player) Example: She yanked/pulled/jerked her tee shot into the trees.
From the foregoing it is obvious that it will be next to impossible to introduce a jerk or a sudden violent effort into any part of the swing without disturbing the balance or moving the head.
They were, however, knee-jerk reactions that in retrospect were surely wrong. It might have been best had the playing of the cup been cancelled for that biannual cycle.
My swing doesn't jerk or sway-it's a compact, precise movement that moves around a fixed point. With two clubs (and twice the weight) you'll swing slower and create a more precise path.

On the other hand, if you take the club back too slowly for the first foot and a half, you'll subconsciously feel the need to get things moving faster, and invariably you'll jerk upward in the backswing, producing more of a lift than a proper turn.
The opposite is also true. If you're a great golfer, but your golf etiquette falls short, no one will want to play with you, and/or those that do will leave thinking that you're a jerk. The person furthest from the hole goes first ...
