As you start the downswing, allow the lower body to initiate a pivot toward the target as the hands and arms drop the club into position to approach the ball on the correct forwardswing path.

The amount of "kill" or drag depends very largely upon the nature of the ground upon which the ball lands, and I have found from experience that I get better average results with the mid-iron.

Don't try to kill the ball. Your goal is to place the ball in the proper location on the fairway for your next shot. You do not always have to hit your driver.

You have a tendency to slide back when trying to kill the ball and all you are really doing is changing where the low point of the club will be at impact.

Duck Hook : A shot that curves abruptly and severely right to left (right-handed player). Example: Timothy tried to kill his drive on the first hole and ended up with an ugly duck hook.

If your instructor has you hitting golf balls before you have the fundamentals of your best swing, fire the bum he's going to kill ya! If, after a couple of lessons, you are not pleased with your progress, fire the bum.

Hitting it easy, slow backswing without trying to kill the ball, moving forward so the head of the club comes down on the ball instead of picking the ball up with the club head. Nothing seems to work.
