Line of Putt The 'line of putt'' is the line that the player wishes his ball to take after a stroke on the putting green. Except with respect to Rule 16-1e, the line of putt includes a reasonable distance on either side of the intended line.

A. No. The line of putt does not extend beyond the hole. There is no penalty for making a stroke in this manner, provided the ball is fairly struck at and not raked into the hole. (Definition of "Line of Putt" and Rule 16-1e).
When your ball is on the green, you may use your hand or club to brush away leaves and other loose impediments (natural objects such as stones and leaves that are not fixed or growing) that are in your line of putt.
First of all, be sure to not be on somebody else' line of putting. Standing even with the ball left or right, at a considerate distance, is always correct. Never talk, whisper or make any other noise while another player is putting.
When your ball is on the green, you may brush away leaves and other loose impediments within your line of putt. You should repair ball marks or old hole plugs if they are within your line of putt, but you may not repair marks made by spikes or shoes.
