+ Look from the low side of the hole. This is just another way of getting your eyes lower. Of course, this only works on putts where you can tell which side is the low side.

Some even go as far as to stare at the putt from the low side of the hole. I've known players who, when faced with a putt to win a meager Nassau three ways, will flop down on their bellies in a desperate attempt to get the read right.

If you're tired of missing breaking putts on the low side, you can always force yourself to aim higher as a matter of habit, but this doesn't really come to grips with the problem. How much higher? How do you see enough break to begin with?

Better players know that, no matter how well you judge the speed and break of a putt, if you consistently miss on the low side of the hole, you're never giving yourself a real chance.

Bunkers: when you enter a bunker always do it from the low side. When you leave a bunker make sure you have removed all evidence that you were ever there. Some extra strokes with the rake to smooth the sand are always welcome.

Without having to tell yourself, you know which is the low side of the green and which is the high. If the putting surface is hard and crusty under foot, you receive one message, if it's soft and spongy you get another.

The law of averages tells you that as a putt is breaking near the hole, gravity works in your favor if the ball is above the hole. If the ball is breaking away on the low side, gravity works against you.
