Makeable: Shot with a good chance of being holed.
Mallet: Putter with a wide head.
Mark: To indicate the position of the ball with a small, round, flat object, such as a coin, usually on the green.

mallet: A type putter with a wide head.
mark: Term used to describe the act placing a small object behind the ball to indicate the balls position when moved.

His philosophy is that much of the course's defence should be centred around the greens - hit the right part and you'll have a makeable birdie or par putt; but go to the wrong spot on the putting surfaces and you'll be struggling to get down in two.

If for instance, your opponent is on the green in two with a very makeable putt, and you are at the wrong side of a greenside bunker in three, now is the time to try to finesse a lob shot over the trap.
