The easist way to deal with this problem is to mark the nearest point of relief with a tee peg. Measure 1 club length. Mark that position with a tee peg.

If an immovable obstruction (e.g. a water fountain) interferes with your stance or swing, you may drop the ball within one club-length of the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.

Find the nearest point not nearer the hole where you can play without interference. Drop the ball within one club-length of that point. Note: You should not pick up the ball from an obstruction until you have established the nearest point of relief.
