Jigger and Niblick
The jigger is a cross between a mid-iron and a mashie, with nearly the range of the mid-iron and nearly the capacity for raising the ball which the mashie has.

Not everyone needs to know what it means when two friends are golfing and the one friend uses his niblick and takes advantage of the muckle side of the cup for his shot to drop.

Confusingly, it was also sometimes used to describe a short pitching club for work around the green, otherwise called a pitching niblick, or lofting iron, roughly equivalent to a modern pitching wedge.

The ball makes a high arc and stops almost immediately after landing on the green.
If you ever hear the word Pitching Niblick - that's an old term used for an 8-iron or a golf club that has the same qualities of a 9-iron or pitching wedge.
