No doubt numerous observers have spent hours weighing up what possible alternatives there could be. A tee suspended in mid-air for instance is hardly an everyday occurrence on the course.

By this, the observer was pointing up the fact that Locke stood "closed" to the start line, took the putter back to the inside of this line, and delivered the putterhead at the ball from the inside. But this is not the full story.

Guys like Jim Furyk and Justin Leonard have notorious pre-shot routines that are often scoffed at by the casual observer who doesn’t realize the pressure these players face during competition.

Referees, markers, observers, and forecaddies are outside agents. Wind and water are not outside agents.

The exception is if an outside agency causes the movement of the ball (an outside agency being a referee, forecaddie - but not a caddie - observer, etc., not part of the match).

outside agency Anyone who is not part of the competitors side in stroke play or not part of the match. Such as observers, forecaddies, referee etc.
overclub To use a club that gives too much distance.

Outside Agency: Any object or person that is not part of the current golf match or golf course, such as a spectator, forecaddie or observer, that effects the flight or lie of a ball.

shoulder will be forced around so that it strikes the chin at the top of the swing. The bend at the waist should only be in the very slightest degree, or it will be overdone. It should be perfectly comfortable and hardly noticeable to an observer.
