Offset / Onset
Offset is typically described as the distance from the front edge of the hosel to the leading edge of the face.

Offset
The position of the hosel relative to the leading edge, or forward-most edge on the sole of a club.

Offset - A club with the head set behind the shaft.
One Up - Used in match play to mean having scored one hole more than your opponent. Also, the score of the player who is one up.

Offset: Club with the head set farther behind the shaft than normal.
One-Putt: To take only a single putt on a green.
One Up: Being one hole ahead in the match score.

Offset: The gap between the club shaft and the club face when held at address when looking from above.

OFFSET - a club with the head slightly behind (or offset) the shaft.
OUT-OF-BOUNDS - the area outside of the golf course limits in which play is prohibited. If you hit the ball out of bounds you must hit again from the same spot.

Offset Clubs and Left-side Mistakes
If your mistake patterns are consistently to the left and you are using offset club, especially woods, then you are fighting a losing battle. Switch to clubs with little or no offset in the hosel.

Offset
Offset clubs are designed to allow golfers a split second more time to square the clubface through impact. Granted, it's only a split second, but it's enough to make a world of difference for golfers who slice.

Progressive Offset: The amount of offset increases progressively from the short irons to the long irons.

The Big Easy is offset and has a clubface that is 2 degrees closed, to counter-act a slice, and the two-tone paintwork on the clubhead make it extremely easy to set up to the ball square.

Offset---on a clubhead, the leading edge is set back from the hosel. An offset club helps the golfer square the clubface at impact than a club with no offset features.
Open face---a clubface aiming to the right of the intended target.

The putterhead's line of motion is not the same as that of the lead hand, but is offset parallel. The hands move in a line at a point to the inside of the target offset the same distance the hands are back inside the putterhead's sweetspot.

When facing an approach shot from the rough, move the ball back in your stance to help you hit down on the ball. Also open the clubface a bit to offset the club's tendency to close as it goes through the grass.

Open the clubface slightly to offset the open stance. Open it more if you want a higher, softer shot.
Keep your wrists firm through impact and don't release your hands until well after impact.
Visualize a steep, "U-shaped" swing.
