one up -- In match play when a team or player leads by one hole.
one-iron-- An iron with very little loft that is typically difficult to hit. A 1-Iron typically hit's the ball 180 to 220 yards. May also be called a driving iron.

One Up - Used in match play to mean having scored one hole more than your opponent. Also, the score of the player who is one up.

One Up: Being one hole ahead in the match score.
Open Face: Clubface aligned to the right of the target at address, or to the right of its path at impact. Can lead to a shot going to the right of the target.

The winner of the first hole is "one up". Even if the player wins that hole by two or three strokes, he is still only "one up". The lead is increased every time the player wins another hole. The winner is the one who wins the most holes.

open stance: A set up where the body line/alignment points to the left of the target ...

Wedge: Generic name applied to clubs used for short shots: pitching wedge, lob wedge and sand wedge (blaster). They are short high lofted clubs intended to make the ball go high but not long.

In a game that was never distinguished, Ray Williams was never behind against Edwards but he was also never more than one up. Edwards squared the match at the 14th but promptly lost the 15th.

Same set up, except replace the ball in your right hand with a pitching wedge, tee one up slightly and hit the ball. Try and get the same feeling as the first drill. Do not worry about hitting the ball, just concentrate on the weight transfer feeling.

A player or team that has won one more hole than the opponent is said to be "one up." If the lead becomes more than the number of holes remaining, the match is over.

Up: The number of holes in which a golf has better his opponent in match play. For example: one up, two up, etc...

We live in a world where everyone is looking for a competitive edge, and some people play at a win at all cost mentality. I believe with these tips, you will go to your next golf outing "one up" even before you tee off.
