Outside-In: Swing path in which the player's club, on the downswing, crosses over its path on the backswing, ending up directed more to the left of target than desired.

Outside Agency
An 'outside agency'' is any agency not part of the match or, in stroke play, not part of the competitor's side, and includes a referee, a marker, an observer and a forecaddie. Neither wind nor water is an outside agency.

Outside: Area on the far side of the ball.
Outside In: Swing path followed by the clubhead into the ball from outside the ball-target line. (See inside out.)
Over the Green: Ball hit too far.

Outside In
Refers to a swing path that comes from outside the target line and cuts across the ball and continues inside the target line.

Outside Agency: Any object or person that is not part of the current golf match or golf course, such as a spectator, forecaddie or observer, that effects the flight or lie of a ball.

Outside-to-In: A description of a swing path when the clubhead approaches the ball from outside the target line and then continues to the inside of that line following impact.

Outside : On the opposite side of the target line from the golfer 2. Farther from the hole than another ball/player. Example: 1.

The outside-to-inside swing is the biggest obstacle to playing good golf that most golfers will ever face. With an outside-to-inside swing, if the clubface is square to the swing path you will have a pull. This is a shot that goes straight left.

The outside in golf swing is the #1 swing fault in golf. This is were the club moves way inside on the take away, lifted to the top of the back swing and starts out side on the down swing. It guarantees a slice or pulled shot every time.

Teeing off outside this area - in match play there is no penalty but your opponent may ask you to replay your stroke; in stroke play you incur a two-stroke penalty and must then play from within the proper area.
PLAYING THE BALL ...

If you are outside of your realistic make range, your goal should be for a drop-in putt. Although spectacular when it goes in, running at the chains from a long ways out is an easy way to lose a stroke by leaving you with a difficult comeback putt.

- Hitting from outside the teeing ground: In stroke play, teeing off from outside the teeing ground (the teeing ground is between the tee markers and up to two club lengths behind the tee markers) results in a 2-stroke penalty.

Golf is played outside, and as such, you are at the mercy of the sun and other natural elements. It can often be difficult to track your ball without some form of optic wear that can reduce UV...

If my hands are outside of my shoulder line, they will naturally want to seek (return) back underneath my shoulder line. If my hands swing to the inside and so does the head of my putter.

The notion that outsiders have of golf being a game dominated by out of shape couch potatoes with potbellies is antiquated, at best.

The word can also be used in instances outside of sports, in real-life situations.

If your ball hits an outside agency, (bird, rake, etc.), it is called a "rub of the green." There is no penalty and the ball is played as it lies.
If your ball hits you, your partner, your caddie, or your equipment in match play you lose the hole.

Outside Agent
Is any agent not part of the match or, in stroke play, not part of the competitor's side. Referees, markers, observers, and forecaddies are outside agents. Wind and water are not outside agents.

This causes the club head to move from the outside to the inside in the swing. Such cutting across the ball, or worse, can send it off erratically.

If your hips or head go anywhere outside your right foot, it's considered a sway, and it wasn't a slight motion, you went too far.
Tilt your back (which is still flat), so that the right shoulder points up and the left shoulder points down.

Placing the ball either inside or outside the ball line will distort the perception of the path to the hole.

8) You may without penalty pick the ball up and drop it outside the area, within one-club-length of the nearest point of relief which is not nearer the hole.

If the shoulders are in a closed position (facing to the right of the target) the clubhead travel will be inside-to-outside of the target line. With the shoulders parallel to the target line at impact, the clubhead travel will be inside-to-direct.

The area designated as being outside the boundaries of the course. When a shot lands "O.B.", the player "loses stroke and distance," meaning that he/she must hit another shot from the original spot and is assessed a one-stroke penalty.

Out of Bounds: Any area officially outside of the course grounds. These areas are usually marked by white posts or a fence line.

1) KEEP YOUR SET-UP SIMPLE: -- For a chip or pitch shot, my hands are slightly ahead of the ball to the edge of my outside leg. In both cases, angling the clubshaft forward promotes a descending blow needed for a crisp contact.

Q. Should rakes be placed in or outside bunkers?
A. It is recommended that rakes be placed outside bunkers, as far away from the bunkers as practical and in positions where they will be least likely to affect play.

You see, the harder you try to hit, the tighter your wrists will get, and the more outside / in your swing path will be. This will cause a huge slice and a shot that will most definitely miss the fairway.

OUT-OF-BOUNDS - the area outside of the golf course limits in which play is prohibited. If you hit the ball out of bounds you must hit again from the same spot.
OVERCLUBBING - using a club that will hit the ball farther than necessary.

4 - Take away the club outside the target line. At this point in your swing it is necessary that your knees remain out over your toes. This will keep you centered in your swing (no weight shift back).

In addition, the severe outside-to-in swing path created by the open sep-up makes it difficult for weekend golfers to hit the exact spot in the sand they're aiming for.
The end result: inconsistency.

Out of bounds - A ball which is out of bounds is outside the confines of the course. The beginning of an area which is out of bounds will always be clearly marked. A ball which is in the rough or in a hazard is not out of bounds.

O.B. / Out of Bounds. The area lying outside of the defined golf course. A player is penalized stroke and distance, so they must replay the shot with a penalty of one stroke.
Offset - A club with the head set behind the shaft.
