We all play off the same rules. There is no difference. Women compete in the same way as men do. They still play to their maximum ability to try and lower their handicap, they try to gain as much distance as they can with their drives off the tee box.

If you are playing against someone in a match, then the golfers play off the low handicap of the group. For example, let's say there are three golfers in the group; one is a 10 handicapper, one is a 15, one is a 20.

Off the tee, decide the appropriate line of play off the tee. If there is trouble on the left side of the fairway - water, sand trap, trees or out of bounds - tee off on that side; always, always tee off on the side where the trouble is.

By a random method it is determined that the order of play off the first tee will be Alan, Bob, Carl and then Don. The scores on the first hole are Alan 5, Bob 6, Carl 5 and Don 4.

Players have informed me that they can play off a board floor that way, and it must be correct.

Two points are awarded on each hole, one point for low ball, and one point for low total for the partners with the lowest aggregate total on each hole. Players play off the lowest handicap golfer.

This was what is now called the driver but its purpose was somewhat different. Modern drivers tend to emphasize distance more than the "play clubs" of old which historically emphasiezed putting the ball in play off of the tee.
