Choose a pro-am package. For 2012, amateurs have a choice of a number options. You can play in a Monday pro-am before the tournament starts for $4,000, probably with a lesser-known pro.

After the pro-am at Yarra Yarra in Melbourne, she reckoned that the 6,054 yards course was way too short. 'It's certainly not long enough for me,' she claimed. 'If it was 7,000 yards or more then I would fancy my chances a lot more.

In playing in pro-ams with amateurs, I would encourage amateurs to do two things to become better iron players:
1. Don't swing so hard. Many amateurs are swinging as hard as possible to gain distance with little regard for accuracy.

One of the most common mistakes I see among my pro-am partners is over attention to the alignment of the feet. They take great pains to set their feet properly while neglecting the position of their hips and shoulders.

On April 25th GolfReach Texas held the 3rd Annual TPI "Pro" Classic at Bentwater Golf Club on Lake Conroe with 26 STPGA members competing in a pro-am for a purse of $12,500.

As does the related trick of looking at the hole while putting, rather than at the ball. I've seen Colin Montgomerie do this. Johnny Miller famously did it during his last PGA Tour victory at the 1994 Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
