putt out-- To complete a golf hole by hitting one's ball into the cup.
putter-- A golf club with a straight clubface that is used to "putt" or roll the golf ball towards and into the cup on the green.

Putt Out: To hole the ball with a putt.
Putter: A short club with a flat face designed to roll the ball along the ground when hit.

Putt Out : To complete play by putting your ball into the hole. Example: Since my lag putt stopped just a foot from the hole I went ahead and putted out before everyone else made their putts.

Green: The culmination of a golf hole, where the flagstick and cup are located and where a golfer will "putt out" to end the hole. A ball is in the green when any part of it is touching the green.

Even though Don had the lowest score, 4, let's say that he was the last person to putt out and complete the first hole.

While keeping an honest score it's also a good idea to record your total number of putts (which obviously requires that you putt out every hole). You should aim for 36 putts per round.

People that assume they do not have to putt out short putts or "gimmies."

Scramble - all players in the group hit their tee-shots, then choose which ball the team will play for their second shot. All other players pick up their ball and hit from the best ball spot. This continues until you putt out for a team score.

Putt - Any shot within 10 meters of the target is considered a putt. As per PDGA rules, the player must exhibit balance and not advance past the lie when putting inside of 10 meters. However, many players use a putt outside of 10 meters as well.
