Range Ball: Type of ball used at a driving range facility. The balls may be used balls or may be specially made, difficult-to-cut balls purchased by upscale ranges for durability.

 


Range Ball: Generally a low-quality ball used on a driving range.
Rap: To hit a putt firmly.
Read the Green: To assess the path on which a putt must travel to the hole.

Range Ball : Golf balls for use only on the driving range, usually striped or marked in some way to easily distinguish them from regular golf balls. Example: Range balls are not supposed to be used on the golf course.

To do it right, take up your address position but instead of holding a golf club hold a bucket of range balls.

You've seen range balls with a red stripe painted around the equator, and you've seen the tips that suggest you line up the stripe at the hole and try to roll the ball so the stripe stays vertical as the ball rolls and does not wobble.

Here is how to do this: Imagine you are using a striped range ball, or set the logo facing the clubface. Then, set your club on the ground and make sure at least half of the stripe or logo is above the top of the driver.

Hit range balls or plastic practice balls every week. Work on learning the actions that shape your shots. To learn control, try to hit some fades, then hit some straight balls, and finish by trying to hit some draws.

If you exhaust 100 range balls trying to hit your 8-iron to the 140 mark, you will probably never get there. Your tendency would be to just to try to swing harder and harder. You could end up losing yardage.
