Rough - Type of grass, bordering fairways, that is higher and generally more coarse than the grass in the fairway.
Run-Up Shot - An intentionally low shot designed to roll on to the green.

Rough tends to take backspin off the ball and create a "flier" that goes farther and takes longer to stop. Adjust your target to allow for the added roll.

The follow through is important, but not as important as the other parts of the swing. It should just be an extension of your swing.

The Follow Through
The first picture to the left shows a considerable amount of wrist cock early into the follow through. This is a classic sign of a golf swing in which the arms and body are at odds with one another.

The Follow Through
Some years ago when I was an oarsman I learned that the arms have not a great amount of strength. The real strength of the body is in the heavy muscles of the shoulders, back, and thighs.

In his book Golf My Way (2005), Nicklaus offers this warning: "If you are hoping to improve your game through these pages, but can't or won't learn to keep your head steady throughout the swing, read no further.

1. Never give up. We all go through periods when we are not playing particularly well and the key is to find the weakness that is cause of that. Sometimes it is ball striking and other times it is the short game and in rare cases it is both! ...

Your next move is what will put my kids through college. You abandon the idea of feeling something new, because you need the instant gratification of seeing that the new approach is working. So you go back to thinking about the ball.

Rough : Longer grass adjacent to the fairways, greens and sometimes tees. Example: Playing from the rough is usually more difficult as the longer grass makes it more difficult to contact the ball cleanly.

Through the Green
'Through the green'' is the whole area of the course except:
The teeing ground and putting green of the hole being played; and
All hazards on the course.

through the green All areas of the course, except for the teeing ground, putting green, and hazards.
timing The rhythm of a player's golf swing. Also known as tempo.

Through Line: A line extending away from the hole a reasonable distance following the line of a putt. Etiquette requires that you do not step in this line in case your opponent misses his put and needs to make his come backer.

The Rough - The areas of the course known as 'the rough' are the regions that are allowed to grow more wildly than the fairways and putting greens. Thick grass, shrubland or woodland often make up the rough.

Let Through: When one game on a course waves another through, usually because of slower play or a lost ball.

Shaft Through Forearms
The fourth line to look at is very important. I like to draw a line along the shaft of the putter. If the line runs directly through the forearms, that tells me that this person's putting set-up is using a one lever motion.

Go through each of the diagnostic questions and fill-in the answer. This will provide an initial record and it will identify the areas of grip, stance, alignment, swing path and clubface position that will need improvement.

Go through the list below and check off the things that you do rather well (you or your pro may wish to add to this list based on your swing).

30 through 39: 9
40 or higher: 10
For example, if a golfer has a course handicap of 8, shoots a score of 83, but that score includes a six on a par 3 (a triple bogey) then the posted score should be only 82.

Deep Rough :
The shot you play from a lie in the rough depends on your objective. If you need distance from the rough, move the ball back in your stance, close the clubface a bit and hit a punch shot.

Go through this short range of motion to start. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Use your "Back" button to return.

The through swing should be a natural follow-on based on the speed of swing required, and the length of the backswing.

Heavy Rough.
Whipping
The straps used to re-inforce the join between the club head and shaft.

If, through misuse of the right arm and elbow, the right hand is allowed to overpower the left before release, power and direction is prejudiced. It then comes into the shot too early, interfering with the guiding role of the left hand and arm....

I go through the same thing every time I get to the range. I get to the tee, I hit the first ball or two BEAUTIFULLY!! As I kid myself and say that I could be a pro, that's when I start to make my mistakes.

Pull Through
The pull-through is where you begin to generate the power needed for a long throw. For maximum power and speed your shoulder rotation should pull your arm through.

play through

Where a slower group allows a faster moving group to play a hole and pass them on a course.

Bermuda Rough
Golfers living in Southern climates and those Snowbirds planning a vacation there are sure to encounter tough greenside lies in the Bermuda Grass rough.

1. Go through the same routine on the putting green every time. Do not vary that routine no matter what you are putting for.
2. The most important of the list is DO NOT THINK OF OUTCOME, STAY IN THE PRESENT, FOCUS ONLY ON THE TASK AT HAND.

It is through examples like this that Chi Chi has proven that he is not only a great golf champion, but a champion in life.
