Second cut

Second Cut: Term applied to a section of rough (or higher grass) that borders the first cut (See First Cut) of rough. The second cut is farther from the fairway and is generally more severe than the first cut.

 


Second Cut: Second level of rough, higher than first cut. Some courses have three cuts of rough.
Semiprivate: A course with members that is also open to the public.
Semirough: Grass in the rough that is not too long, not too short.

A section of even higher, coarser grass that borders the first cut.

setup: As address; The starting position of the body
shaft: The long part of the club that joins the grip to the head.

Third Cut: A section of rough, generally found on tournament courses that borders the second cut (See "Second Cut.") The third cut is very severe and may not be found on all but the most difficult courses.

The sparseness of rough or second cut as the 300 members at Augusta grandly refer to the trim grass beneath the trees, poses no danger to Woods whatsoever.

a height at which the grass is mowed (e.g., fairway, rough, etc.), referred to as the first cut, second cut, etc.
Example: 1. Many times a cut shot will land more softly than a draw. 2. Unless she birdies 2 of the last 3 holes she will miss the cut.
