Most slicers cut across the ball on the downswing--they take the club back to the outside on the backswing and cross their plane (imaginary line) to the inside on the downswing. This is what produces a slice.
Fixing the slice
Left foot position is also a key here, I have found that by turning it in, almost pointing directly at the ball. My slice went away and I sometimes hook the ball now.

A "slice", the most common drive among amateurs, is an exaggerated fade, so that it ends up way right of your targe. A "hook" is an exaggerated draw, so that it ends up way left of your targe.
If you slice the ball you probably need a better shoulder turn.
A better shoulder turn encourages a correct in to down the line swing path.
This allows a much improved shoulder turn and will produce a wider arc.

Brian had had many lessons, most of which were in an attempt to cure his banana slice. I went over every piece of advice and drill that had been recommended to him.
This means you actually have 2 flaws when you hit a slice. Now, if you are someone who hit this type of shot, you have to get the clubface squaring first. Think of a pro for a second.
