Stroke play

Stroke play is a game in which the strokes taken by each player are counted and totaled at the end of each round. The player with the fewest number of strokes is the winner.

Stroke: An attempt at hitting the ball regardless if contact is made or if the ball actually moves.
Sweet Spot: The best and most advantageous spot on a club face to hit the ball — usually in the center.

Single Stroke or Medal play is the simplest of all variations. The game requires all strokes to be counted and players are unable to pick up the ball without penalty. The score for the 18 holes is tallied and the handicap is deducted from that total.

Strokeplay
Also known as Medal Play, Stroke play is the format of scoring where a golfer counts every shot over 18 holes. To win at stroke play you need to have the lowest score once your handicap has been deducted. (this known as your NETT score).

Stroke Play - all players in the group hit play their own ball throughout the competition, 18 holes for an individual score. Four-Ball Stroke Team Play- two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball.

Strokeplay
This is when you count every shot you play and add up your total amount at the end. This is called your gross score. If you have a handicap you would minus that from your Gross score leaving you with your Nett score.

Stroke

Your strokeplay score on any given hole does not matter at all. As long as it is less than your opponent.
Taking 10 on a par three hole is fine, as long as he takes 11!! This is the beauty of matchplay.

A Straight Stroke

To make a straight stroke it helps to know how your body transmits forces into your hands without you being aware of it.

These wasted strokes are easy to get rid of if you just know how.
So here is what you must do to stop wasting shots.

In making the stroke the tape shown was cut in two about four inches ahead of the center line, after connecting with the ball. In other words, I get my distance entirely on the first bounce and not on the carry.
