SWEETSPOT
The sweetspot is the best part of the club face to hit the ball well. And it is obvious that a larger sweetspot makes your lady golf club more forgiving. The number of mishits decreases but also your distance.
screws (also "on the screws") the sweetspot, usually refers to hitting a wood, or driver in particular, right in the center (many woods originally had an insert in the center of the face that was attached with screws, thus the expression) ...
Both the Vertical Stroke Plane and the Tilted Stroke Plane produce a straight, square motion of the putterface, with the sweetspot staying directly above the target line back and thru as viewed from inside the plane.
Distance is the result of clubhead speed applied effectively, not speed alone, so it's critical that contact is made in the center of the clubface -- on the "sweetspot.
In IRONS, titanium, owing to its light weight, allows the manufacturer to increase the size of the club head and therefore the sweetspot, making them more forgiving. Because the metal is so light it has to be offset with heavier weights.
Power is generated by how fast the arms swing and striking the golf ball on the "sweetspot" of the club. There is no Power generated by turning the hips! As an example, how you ever seen anyone sit in a chair and hit a golf ball?

Try doing what many pros do: Hit the ball on the toe of the putter, not on the sweetspot. This tends to "deaden" the jump on the ball and stops it from going way past the hole. Don't do this on uphill putts though! ...
But club technology and design - most specifically larger clubheads and bigger sweetspots - has meant that most, if not all standards of golfer can now afford to carry a 1-wood.

I begin my backswing from the toe-address position, then reroute the putter during the stroke so that at impact I hit the ball smack off the sweetspot.
