tee-shot-- The initial shot on a golf hole played from the tee box.
teeing ground-- Also known as the tee box, the designated area in which a golfer hits his/her initial shot on a golf hole.

 


tee-shot The first shot played on a hole.
teeing ground The area designated for teeing off. The levels of playing difficulty are marked with colored markers. See "marker".

Needless to say my very first tee-shot was a little on the rough side, not bad by any means just not what I was accustom too. Second shot was to 10 feet from the pin and I am putting for a birdie. I made par and could not have been more pleased.

Both players play one tee-shot each from every tee. A choice is then made as to which is the more favourable of the 2 ball positions, the other ball being picked up. Thereafter the players play alternate shots.

Scramble - all players in the group hit their tee-shots, then choose which ball the team will play for their second shot. All other players pick up their ball and hit from the best ball spot. This continues until you putt out for a team score.
