Tee box

At courses whose tee boxes contain more than three sets of tees, it gets a little more complicated. But we can sort it out by considering the yardages that the professionals play from.

Starting point where a golfer puts a ball into play for a hole.

Tee Box - The area reserved at each hole for the initial shot to be taken.

Tee Box / Teeing Ground - The area reserved at each hole for the initial shot to be taken.

Tee Box: The area where players tee to start a hole. (Robert Trent Jones designed long tee boxes).
Tempo: The speed of the swing (not necessarily the clubhead speed). (Ernie Els has a beautiful tempo).

The tee box
Think of the tee box as a stage with a spotlight. Everybody gets his or her turn to shine. Try to remain quiet and out of the golfer's view, including your shadow that may hinder the golfer's concentration at address.

Tee box - Tee boxes are tee areas that are well defined and can be made of concrete, asphalt, gravel, rubber, and other materials. This marks where the first shot is thrown from on a given disc golf hole.

Most tee boxes are imperfect: They slope in one direction or another, have divots, etc. Tee up in a place where your feet are even and level, even if this means teeing up right next to one of the markers or moving back a club-length or two.

Let's start on the tee box. Most people line up on the wrong side of the tee box. Those who slice the ball tend to line up farther to the left and those who hook farther to the right.

Take Advantage of Tee Boxes
The only time you can change your ball's placement is when you tee it up. Take advantage of it! Always favor the same side as the trouble to get the best angle and the best percentage for avoiding it.

Tee box - The area from which the ball is hit on the first shot of a hole.
Tee off - To hit or play a tee shot.
Tee up - To place the ball on the tee.
Tee-shot - A shot played from a tee.

Tee box (part of the course): the specially prepared area, usually grass, from which the first stroke for each hole is made (teeing ground in official terminology).

Fairway---the closely mown area between the tee box and the green.
Fat---hitting the ground before hitting the ball, making the ball go a shorter distance than expected. (Also called chunk or chili dip.) ...

In conclusion, use this technique off the tee box when playing into a strong headwind or for extra distance on a second shot to reach a par-5.

Finding your way from the tee box to the middle of the fairway will provide you with a better chance for par or birdie. Hit better tee shots this year with these three tips.

tee off-- To hit the initial shot on a given golf hole from the tee box area.
tee up-- The act of placing a golf ball on a tee in order to tee off on a hole.
tee-shot-- The initial shot on a golf hole played from the tee box.

You start each new hole from the Tee Box
Your ball is allowed to be teed up on a tee peg on the teeing ground for your first shot. You are not allowed to tee up the ball any where else ...

If you've ever seen a grounds crew member mow a tee box, you know how little attention is given to replacing the markers. Use them as a guide, but be sure to align yourself.

fairway The short-grassed area of the course between the tee box and the green.
fan See "airball".
fat shot A shot where the club strikes the ground well before the ball (usually resulting in a large divot).

Fairway: The manicured path of grass from the tee box to the green on a hole.
Fairway Wood: Any wood other than the driver — usually a 3, 5 or 7 wood.

Drive
The first shot of each hole, made from an area called the tee box, usually done with a driver (a type of golf club).

FAIRWAY - this is the area on the golf course, which lies directly between the tee box and the green and is cut really short and maintained really nice. You want to hit from this area if at all possible.

The scorecard tells you the length of each hole from each tee box as well as the "par" rating for the hole. Golfers keep track of their score on these cards.

A designation for the entire course including hazards except the tee box and the green of the hole being played. The "green" was the name given to early courses.
TOE
The part of the club head furthest from the shaft.

DRIVE
The shot you take using the driver in the tee box. The first shot towards the hole. See the Tee-Shot section ...

You almost expect to see Johnny Miller (the desert fox) on the tee box ripping his drives 300 yards down the fairways. Heck, thanks to the warm dry desert air you half expect to rip your own drives out there a mile.

However, Payne said limited changes would be made for the 2007 Masters, with the tee boxes on the 11th and 15th holes lengthened by five to seven yards.

4) The rules of golf allow you to tee up the ball anywhere between the tee markers and as far back as 2 club lengths; this allows you to seek a level area on the tee box.

Honor: A player who has "honors" is the player who hits first from the tee box. On the first tee, honors can be determined randomly or by any means desired.

The areas where tee markers are placed are called "tee boxes."

the smooth change of the speed of a player's swing from first movement to ballstrike. Ernie Els's tempo is the envy of many professionals.
