Topped: a very thin shot that makes the ball roll rather than fly.
The yips: A tendency to twitch during the putting stroke.

Topped Shot: A low, bouncing shot caused by the bottom of the club striking the top half of the ball. (He topped his drive on the 1st tee and never regained his composure).

Top/topped - To hit the golf ball above its center. A topped shot will dive downward, and roll, or hop along the ground rather than rise into the air.
