When you turn on your kitchen or bathroom faucet, does the water come out in a steady, continuous stream that splashes around your sink? If so, your faucet might be missing a tap aerator.
A lawn aerator creates holes or cavities in the surface of the lawn and allows the soil to move and shift more freely. This practice of removing "plugs" of dirt to promote movement within the soil is referred to as aerification.
If you aerator is stubborn and won't unscrew easily, wrap several layers of electician's tape around the jaws of a pair of standard or multi-groove pliers to prevent damaging the finish.
Once you remove the aerator you will notice one or more parts contained within. Note the order and orientation of the parts as you remove them. As you take them out you will probably find grit and rust.
