My 22 month old son spilled a bottle of bleach on our carpet. I tried blotting it with a towel and rinsing it with plenty of water. Today the area is dry and is whiter than the original color.

Sodium percarbonate is an excellent detergent and bleaching agent based on hydrogen peroxide. It is a good cleaning and bleaching agent at normal temperature, and has strong fungicide effect.

Treat the Bleach
If you splash chlorine bleach on carpeting or upholstery, the color loss is permanent. You should still treat the stain, however; if you leave the stain untreated, it may oxidize to a yellowish color.

BLEACHED - application of chemicals to whiten fabric.
BLEND - fabric containing a mixture of two or more fibers or yarns.
BLIND - slatted or pleated window covering, typically inside mount, see SHADES.

BLEACHING OIL - Oil stain used on wood siding, decking, etc., to accelerate the weathering process.

Bleached Shellac
Although most of the bright red lac dye can be removed with activated carbon, some shade of red-orange remains. For many applications, however, a nearly colorless film is preferred.

Wood bleach from the paint department is usually Oxalic acid crystals.
Check the ingredients to be sure.

Clorox Bleach. If your home's plumbing drains to a municipal sewage plant, pour two cups Clorox Bleach down the drain of your sinks, bathtub, and shower once a month. Let sit over night.

Chlorine bleach will also remove such stains as ink, blood, mustard, fruit juice and coffee. Apply a solution of bleach and water and let it stand on the stain for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse with clean water.

When using bleach or bleach-based cleaners, be sure to have proper ventilation to remove harmful fumes. Also, be sure to wear gloves and older clothing.

Get out the bleach and start scrubbing. If you prefer not to use bleach, find an organic substitute, but bleach works best. Your goal is to clean the bathroom from top to bottom. It should sparkle and radiate cleanliness.

White flour is bleached flour. Bleaching removes the beta-carotene. Not only is the nutritional value of the flour reduced, it's my opinion that beta-carotene contributes to a substantially better flavor and aroma in finished bread.

Stains can be removed by mixing 3 parts water with 1 part bleach or you can purchase a formulated concrete cleaner (read and follow manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines). Use a wire brush on heavily stained areas.

Clean again using a mold-destroying agent such as a diluted bleach solution or commercial mold and mildew product. Carefully wipe down all the seams with clean rags and let dry overnight.
