Boilers
Getting the Right Size
It was once common practice to oversize boilers by around 30%, but nowadays this is considered wasteful, making it important to specify the right size for your home.

Boiler - A device for generating hot water for heating purposes or hot water supply. Heat from an external combustion source is transmitted to a fluid contained within the tubes in the boiler shell.

About Boilers - High Efficiency Condensing Boilers
High efficiency condensing boilers can easily be fitted to most new and existing central heating systems.

Many boilers and furnaces in today's homes are oversized, particularly if you've upgraded the energy efficiency of your home.

A lot of boilers are designed specifically for sealed systems and incorporate the boiler, controls, expansion vessel, pressure gauge & relief valve all within one casing.

An outdoor wood boiler is a home heating unit that is revolutionizing how those with wood stoves heat their homes.

Boilers
Check the altitude pressure gauge to determine whether or not there is water in the boiler. 1.0 PSI will lift water 28 inches; 4.34 PSI will lift water 10 feet.

Boiler - A sealed chamber in which water is converted to steam or is heated for circulation in a hydronic heating system.
Blower - An air-moving device; a fan.

Boiler: A type of space-heating equipment consisting of a vessel or tank where heat produced from the combustion of such fuels as natural gas, fuel oil, or coal is used to generate hot water or steam.

Heating Boilers
The term boiler is applied to the single heat source that can supply either steam or hot water (a boiler is often called a heater).

Boilers work on the principle that hot water rises and circulates from boiler through large supply to radiators. Due to the weight difference between the hot and cold water the cold-water returns back to the boiler.

Boilers, burners, pipes, pumps, fans, circulators, zones, and thermostats are all parts in the kit that makes up most heating systems. Each piece has its role to play in making heat, distributing it, venting it or controlling it.

BOILER LEAKS-Boiler leaks must be repaired or there may be a loss of heat and the boiler may be damaged
beyond repair.

Boilers are more expensive to install than other systems, but are generally trouble-free, very efficient, and last much longer than other types of heating systems.

I have a boiler for heat and domestic hot water. So of course it has duel controls.

Boiler furnishing steam at pressures of 15 pounds per square inch gauge or higher (1.05 kg/cm2).
High-Pressure Cut-Off ...

A boiler pumps steam into a jacket, or two-walled metal sleeve, that surrounds the bottom of the pot. The heat builds for a half-hour or so to raise the wash to its boiling points"plural. Ethanol boils at 173 degrees F; water at 212.

My boiler's pressure is too high. Am I getting the pressure down by letting some water escape from the radiators?

Your boiler or water heater is linked to a manifold -- a system of separate pipes that channel water from a single source into different zones. This way, you can heat each area of your home separately from a single programmable thermostat.
