A lightly broomed finish creates a slip-resistant surface that is important for sloping driveways and sidewalks. Brooming is done after floating and troweling.

Water brooms come in sizes ranging from 12 to 36 inches. A 16 inch broom is a great compromise between size and cleaning power.

I put the broom and trowel in an empty 5-gallon drywall mud bucket. Then I poured in almost a gallon of used mineral spirits.

Other concrete flatwork, concrete walks, and concrete drives should have a light broom finish with expansion joints at adjoining concrete and control joints installed every 10′ on driveways over 10′ x 10′ in size.

If you decide to do it yourself, begin by sweeping with a good broom and then vacuuming the surface. Next, use a buffer with an abrasive pad and/or fine-grit sand paper until the finish feels smooth.

Sweep: Sweep with a clean, soft-bristled broom used only for indoors.
Vacuum: Vacuum out-of-the-way dirt with vacuum cleaner attachments.
Dry Mop: Use a dry mop and/or a clean, dry towel over a regular sponge mop.

This family's kitchen had a broom closet that was converted to a food pantry. Not a bad idea, but, because the shelves were extremely deep, finding and retreiving items from the rear became difficult, if not impossible.

Remove large chunks of broken concrete and sweep out the hole with a stiff broom; flush it thoroughly with water from a garden hose. Then remove standing water with a sponge.

The spatterdash finish is applied by throwing the stucco mortar against the wall using a whisk broom or a stiff fiber brush, and it requires considerable skill on the part of the plasterer to achieve a consistently rough wall surface.

At the London Design Festival in September 2011, award-winning British designer Lee Broom launched his fifth collection.

If the agitator is particularly stubborn, you can loop some rope under one side of the agitator at the bottom and then up over a broom handle. Now loop it again under the other side of the agitator and back up to the broom.

To clean the dust from under a bed, cut off one leg from a clean, used pair of L'eggs Sheer Energy Panty Hose, place it over the end of a broom stick, and secure it in place with a rubber band.

A broom handle will usually screw right into the end. Paint across the room's width, rather than its length. This helps maintain the wet edge too. Do not stop until the whole ceiling is painted.

It resists staining and just takes a mop and a broom for cleaning. It can also handle the weight of those heavy commercial appliances that are so popular in the kitchen these days.

Mount a spring-metal broom clip to the piece of wood; push the glue gun "trigger" into the clip to keep the glue gun safely in place during use. A small inverted metal jar lid can also be attached to catch glue drips from the tip of the gun.

With the power off, wedge a broom handle against the side of the grinding chamber, and use your hand as a pivot point. Alternatively, some units might accept a Jam-Buster Allen wrench that could free the jam.

You will also need a 2lb. maul, wood float, sponge float, edging tool, broom and a masonry blade.
Required Materials for this Project
Avoid last-minute shopping trips by having all your materials ready ahead of time. Here's a list.

Remove any screws or nails remaining in the wall studs. Vacuum or broom out the dust in the room.
Demolishing walls always produces more waste than you expect, so think about renting a small dumpster to easily dispose of waste.

Although aluminum gazebos are low maintenance, they must be maintained properly and cleaned with specific solutions. To prevent the settling and collection of dust, use a stiff broom to clean the gazebo.

Once the cement has set up a bit, you can make traction marks with a broom so the surface isn't too slippery in rain or snow. Let the cement dry for at least two days before you take the forms off.

In some states, real estate purchase contracts stipulate that the home is to be "broom clean," meaning the seller should at least sweep the floor, the walls and ceiling. The language in some of these contracts is ambiguous.

When unclogging a snow thrower, use a broom handle or similar wooden item. The auger and impeller can injure your hands even when the thrower is shut off.

Faced Concrete: To finish the front and all vertical sides of a concrete porch, step(s), or patio. Normally the "face" is broom finished.
Facing Brick: The brick used and exposed on the outside of a wall. Usually these have a finished texture.

Many shop vacuums aren't really designed to handle the heavy chip output of large stationary machines, but they are well suited for smaller tools, such as biscuit joiners and sanders, and produce a lot less dust during a shop cleanup than a broom.

You can also just towel your drive smooth and run a yard broom across it for a non slip surface. There are many different and beautiful ways to finish concrete so look around your area at what other people have done and take note of what you like.
