Cleanout plugs are spaced in the run of big drain pipes. They usually are on vertical pipes in a basement or crawl space, but may be accessible outdoors along the foundation of the house, or even in a garage or pantry closet.
CLEANOUT: A capped opening to drain lines and some traps to facilitate removal of a blockage with a plumber's snake or auger. A covered opening to clean out ash and creosote residue from chimneys and fireplaces.

It will often look like a "U", which means it acts as a cleanout to keep nasty smells from coming back up from the drain.
Using either your razor knife of a small saw,cut arout the lines and cleanout the hole. Your cut piece should fit in nicely.
1. From mainline, install Y with cleanout and plug, go up with 3-inch PVC pipe.
2. Install 3-inch reducing Y into main waste stack for 1st floor wastewater fixtures.
3. Put in 2-inch PVC with 2-inch Y with cleanout. Add long radius elbow.
If your disposer is clogged, put a snake into the trap cleanout. Push the snake up towards the sink or towards the wall, depending on where the clog is. If you can't find a snake, take the trap out and see if you can get the blockage out.
Step 1: If trap is equipped with cleanout plug on bottom of curved section, remove plug with wrench and let water in trap drain into bucket. Otherwise, unscrew slip nuts and slide them out of the way.
Before the rough grade, inspect lot condition for prior damage at all flatwork, slab corners, water meter boxes, t-poles, and sewer cleanout(s).

This is a neat little plug device made by Genova, I believe. There are these ears that hold onto tabs on the pipe fitting, so any fitting of their brand can be used as a cleanout.
In some cases, a trap that has a cleanout plug can be cleaned out without removing and installing a new trap - simply rinse the water through the plug and remove the debris with an auger or other tool.
all by using your own home's water pressure. The waste exited not through a 4" drain as in standard plumbing, but through a 1"+ flexible plastic hose connected to a modified cleanout in your homes waste pipes.
