Halter-type collars fit around the dog's front legs, neck and shoulder, so this can give you and your pet the best support and control. This style is the perfect dog walking collar, especially if your pet constantly pulls while outside.

 


Begin with the collar. Lay the collar flat and iron the outside, working from the points to the middle. Avoid creasing the collar in the middle.

Collar beams are ties between rafters on opposite sides of the roof. If the attic is to be used for rooms, the collar beam may double as the ceiling joist.

Collar Brace - A horizontal piece of lumber used to provide intermediate support for opposite roof rafters, usually located in the middle third of the rafters. Also called collar beam or collar tie.

Collar Ties

A horizontal framing member that is located 2/3 up the rise roof and connects two opposing rafters. Its purpose is to prevent the rafters from pushing the exterior wall outward.

Collar ties ARE a structural member. It is possible to remove them, but ONLY if a substitute engineered solution is put in place. For example, an engineer may design a gusset plate. The engineer may use the floor joists as the bottom of the triangle.
