Eggshell Finish
If you can picture the very low sheen of the shell of an egg, you have an idea of how an eggshell paint finish will appear.

Eggshell paints are particularly desirable when living room spaces are used for family relaxation, as they contain low angle sheen combined with durability.

An eggshell paint finish is similar to a matte finish but has a tiny amount of sheen to it when dried. It is a good choice for interior walls and washes slightly better than flat wall paint.

We save our eggshells in a pan in our oven. The pilot light temperature slowly dries them out. Then we crush them by hand and powder them in the blender.

Flat, satin or eggshell paints are popular for hiding drywall taped joints - because the lower the sheen, the less visible any flaws will be.

Eggshell - Slightly "sheeny" and more washable and scrubbable than flat. Like flat, eggshell is good for places without moisture.
Satin - Satin has a bit of a gloss, and can be used in low-moisture bathrooms, such as powder or guest bathrooms.

Satin or eggshell finishes are easy to clean so they are good choices for high traffic areas. A matte finish will hide any imperfections on a wall because it doesn't reflect as much light as other finishes.

Flats, eggshells or soft sheens are all appropriate paints for the bedroom. The human eye can distinguish about 7 million different colors. This can make finding just the right color pretty daunting.
