Rolled vinyl, felt, and other gasket-type weather stripping attach to either the window frame or sash. When the window closes, they compress to seal air leaks.

After the foam had been installed we applied another layer of 15 pound felt. Many people would say this felt is not needed, but I have my reasons for using a second layer.

Roofing Felt
Roofing felt is the protective layer that sits between the roof sheathing and the shingles.

Felt strips are somewhat unsightly for sealing gaps on wooden-frame windows. There are places where felt can be used to good advantage, however.

Felt or other fabrics are also used as rug backings. This type of backing is relatively inexpensive, and is usually either glued or sewn to the rug. Felt backings do allow for air flow.

Ferrule: A metal sleeve used as a spacer to keep gutter from being beat up when secured to fascia with spikes.

2. Installing windows

Tim, What do you know about polymeric sand as a filler between pavers?

The felt creates a cushion for the decking so that it won't make any noise and it also provides additional waterproofing.

Use felt door weatherstripping around the sides and tops of doors; install a door sweep along the bottom of the door on the inside. Make sure the threshold (or saddle) is in good condition; otherwise, have it replaced.

Laying felt is much easier and faster with two people; one rolling, one stapling/nailing. Position the felt roll flush with the gable end.

Roofing felt comes in different lengths, widths, and thicknesses. 15-pound felt is the most common thickness. You just roll it out starting at the bottom of the roof from one end to the other end.
