~ French Doors and Windows for a Dark Kitchen and Dining Room
Our kitchen and dining room was a nice basic space, but it was severely lacking light. With only one lone single french door on the east side, even mornings seemed dreadfully dark.

French doors are paired doors that have glass panes for most of their length. They usually open outward, and close toward each other. Because they don't have a center jam, French doors were once thought to be a safety concern.

French doors are slightly more expensive than other types of doors, but they are often considered to be a wise investment.

French doors, as shown in Figure 1, are not just a replacement for sliding glass doors nor are French doors always configured in twos.

French doors are usually installed in pairs that when opened together, create a large entryway to the world outside. Yet even when these doors are closed, they offer a lovely view of the outdoor world through their combinations of window paneling.

When looking to renovate and revitalize your home, one avenue that you should consider is the addition of French doors.

French doors have rectangular panes of glass that extend the full length of the door. They are usually hung in pairs on one frame; an interior or exterior double French door design, with both doors opening outward.

French Doors (see image) are hinged at the outside of the unit and contain at least two active panels that swing in or out from the center of the unit.

French doors and sliding doors are examples of the two primary ways doors open. French doors swing on hinges; sliding doors glide along a track. Some doors, such as dutch doors, have tops and bottoms that swing open independently.

French doors with transoms above doors and windows can be added if the ceilings are at least eight feet high. If lower ceilings prohibit the use of transoms a wider window or bank of windows can be used.

A few other ways to light things up include installing extra windows in dark rooms, adding half-glass panes to solid exterior doors or swapping solid doors for French doors. Painting the walls a light colour to reflect light also helps.

While holding the drumstick and thigh in the left hand, take your right hand and hold the carcass while at the same time pushing the thigh and drumstick backwards. This is like opening a set of French doors.
