Landing Inspections
Landings are designed to provide a safe standing area on each side of a door and allow easy opening and closing of the door. A landing area is required on both sides of all exterior/exit doors of the home.

Stairways with landings are used where space is limited. The new laminate-flooring-stairs are very popular for this type of design.

2) Brick landing pad
Brick makes an attractive landing pad and is easier to install than concrete (Fig. 2). But before building a brick landing pad, check with your inspector since concrete is sometimes required.

landing (palier, m.) A flat platform between a series of steps.

An "L" stair makes a 90-degree turn at a landing.
A winder serves like an "L" stair, but requires less space because the landing is divided into pie-shaped steps.
