Moldings are unsurpassed for adding interest and architectural detail to an otherwise plain room or exterior. Traditionally they have been made of wood, but more recently, you can find molding made out of other materials like vinyl PVC.

Molding pieces are typically joined together in one of three ways: scarf or spliced joints, coped joints and mitered joints. Scarf joints join two pieces end-to-end, and are typically cut in 45-degree angles to provide an overlap.

Molding, or millwork, is wood that has been machined at a mill into various designs, dimensions and styles for the purpose of adding decorative trim to different parts of your house.
