Parquet tiles can be set onto an old wood floor, if it is smooth and even. To facilitate laying down the tiles, remove the shoe and base moldings, numbering them so you can replace them in the same sequence.

Parquet flooring is one of the more popular designs for exposed floors today. As an alternative to carpeting, this type of flooring is less expensive than many other options, and has the benefit of being relatively easy to maintain.
