I'd rather use pigtails for connecting the hot, neutral and ground to the receptacle than run all the wiring through the receptacle. The latter uses the receptacle as the connection device, but if any receptacle fails, so goes the circuit.

Pigtailing, for example, takes both ends of the neutral wire(incoming and outgoing) and joins them both together along with a third white wire that goes to the terminal. You will do this with the black wire and the copper wire also in plastic boxes.
I used the pigtail effect, only used just one large single coil of copper. Works great. Leaking Refrigerator ...
The ground pigtail is looped under one of the mounting screws, and then connected to the other two ground wires with a green wire nut.

At the switch box, attach a pigtail to one of the terminals on switch 1 (see image). Connect a second pigtail to one of the terminals on switch 2. Wirenut these two pigtails and the black wire from the light fixture together.
Only two remedies for aluminum wiring have been recommended by the CPSC: discontinued use of the aluminum circuit or the less costly option of adding copper connecting "pigtail" wires between the aluminum wire and the wired device (receptacle, switch, ...
A green wire from the switch box is connected by a pigtail to the cable that comes from the house and the green wire from the light. At the switch, it is pigtailed with two wires.
This handy pigtail style tester can be carried in your pocket and it can test 110 or 220 circuits. Now this plug in type tester couldn't be easier to use.

The original suggestion was to pigtail the aluminum wire with a piece of copper wire and to attach the copper wire onto the steel contact.
6. Lift the fixture base to the ceiling, then use wire nuts to connect each pigtail wire on the lamp base to the same color wire coming out of the ceiling box. Attach the bare copper wire to the grounding screw.
The breaker is wired to the hot and the neutral of the branch circuit, with a pigtail from the breaker to connect to the neutral bus, similar to the wiring of a GFI breaker. Tell your friends about this page! ...

Because of the shape of the base, these sanders can get close to an inside corner. On the downside, the orbital action can leave pigtail-shaped scratches in the surface of the wood that are especially obvious with coarser grits of paper.
