A plinth is a stone structure used in classical architecture. Traditionally, this stone block served as a support for a building column. Today, plinths may act as a base for any number of structures, including statues or monuments.

Style
A distinctive manner of expression or fashion. In architecture, historical styles are often dignified by a specific name such as Baroque, Victorian, or the International Style.

Plinth and corner blocks give the impression that your door casing is part of a decorative column. These pieces can be easily installed over your existing flat casing.

Plinth: The base of a chest of column that rests solidly on the floor, as opposed to sitting on legs.
Quarry tile: Glazed or unglazed; made by an extrusion process from natural clay and shale. Usually in squares and often terra-cotta in color.

A square block at the base of a pilaster of a block of wood placed at the bottom of side door casing to terminate the casing as well as the base.

The plinth (between the floor and the bottom of the cupboard/drawers) adds the finishing touch at the bottom of floor units.

A single plinth vanity, the Kohler Fountainhead Petite Vanity stands on two slender legs. On the outside the legs offer a straight edge, but on the inside they sweep up and out to support the thick panelled vanity front.

A flat block on either side of a doorframe where the architrave meets the skirting. Also in masonary work - the lowest part of a wall or a column known as a plinth course.

This describes the process of carving out a level plinth on a sloping site, in order to build a home that is essentially designed for use on a level site.

Carpenters in the past often placed rosettes at the upper corners and plinth blocks at the bottoms of door jambs. The casings and baseboards butted to them.

A plinth block is a decorative block of various shapes used where baseboard meets a door casing. Moldings are also helpful in older houses to cover gaps where the floor and wall do not meet or where there is a gap between window jamb and wall.

These cupboards have a distinctive woodgrain pattern, and the lack of plinth leaves more floor space on show making the room seem bigger.
