The tuckpointing took about an hour. I had to re-wet the brick often. The dampness of the masonry is critical. It needs to be almost saturated on the surface, but not shiny-wet.

Flexible pointing is the able to cope with small movement of the tile ridge capping much better just sand and cement.
To re-point
Step one: Clean down:
Clean all ridge capping joins with a wire brush and remove any loose pointing material.

Pointing Trowel
A smaller version of the brick trowel but with both edges being straight, these are used for certain types of pointing or to add a finish to the brick work and should be maintained as the Brick trowel.

Pointing trowel
The pointing trowel or pointer is probably the most essential tool in the trade. It comes in sizes ranging from 4" to 7" in length, but the 6" trowel is the most popular.

Pointing is a controversial subject. This is partly because it follows fashion and partly because it can be very much a matter of taste. Bad pointing will not only spoil the look of a stone wall but can damage the stone itself, warns Clive Fewins.

It's so disappointing when spring bulbs don't bloom! Nonblooming might be the result of cutting the foliage too soon last year. The leaves help the bulb manufacture energy for producing a bloom.

Anyone's who worked with chimney's is probably familiar with tuckpointing, which is the replacement of fresh mortar for failed mortar joints. Done correctly, with a mortar-raking tool, the process will clean the damaged mortar.

Place the hinge on the edge of the door with the knuckles pointing in the direction the door opens and mark around its perimeter with a pencil. Score this line deeply with a sharp utility knife.

And exterior flood lights are installed properly, pointing correctly, and work.
Windows are properly caulked, clean, and have no stress cracks. Screens are installed properly.

Force the mixture into the cutaway area with a pointing trowel (see first image below). Be sure to use enough pressure to force the patch mix into all the cutaway areas in the crack.

Putting recessed lighting in the ceiling pointing down to the area isn't a great idea because it will cast shadows on the face.
The shower is also an area that requires appropriate lighting.

If you hold a string with a weight tied to the end, the weight will swing and stop, pointing straight down. It stops at the lowest point of its swing arc.

The term in the trade for what I have just described is called "pointing up" the drywall before paint. Good pointing up truly makes for a first class job. We've all seen the opposite.

Place the new toilet bolts in the flange with the bolts pointing up.
