Portland cement is the key ingredient in making concrete. There are many types of portland cement, some designed for specific applications, some for economy. It is important that you choose the portland cement that will work best in your project.

Portland cement. Portland cement consists of lime, silica, alumina, iron, and gypsum. Portland cement comes in 50 and 100 pound bags.
Aggregate. Aggregate is composed of sand or sometimes gravel.

The Portland Cement Association, one of the top makers of concrete forms, defines them as "cast-in-place concrete walls that are sandwiched between two layers of insulation material.

It is a portland cement product that mixes up sort of like cement and it painted on with a big heavy brush. It is fairly inexpensive and goes on easy. You have to mix it up, hose down the wall and slop it on. It leaves the wall with a rough texture.

Basic & Portland cement is alkaline in nature, so wet Caustic concrete and other cement mixtures are strongly basic (pH of 12 to 13). Strong bases-like strong acids-are harmful, or caustic to skin.

I'd recommend that you coat your walls with portland cement stucco. It's a better bet than joint compound, because it forms a harder, more moisture-resistant surface, and it's fairly inexpensive, though it helps to have good skills with a trowel.
