Puncheon Related Category: Home Economics (pn´chn), plank or board made by hewing instead of sawing. American pioneers who could not procure the products of sawmills made much use of puncheons in their log buildings.
I built them with 2x6 pressure-treated decking screwed onto stringers-no handrails or complex understructures required. (Official trail builders call these simple bridges "puncheons.") I used pressure-treated 4x4s for the stringers.
