Ridge board: A thin timber used to align the tops of the rafters. In most roofs the ridge board is not a load bearing member.
Ridge tile: A curved tile which covers the ridge on a pitched roof.

 


Ridge Board - The board placed on edge at the ridge of the roof into which the upper ends of the rafters are fastened.
Rise - In stairs, the vertical height of a step or flight of stairs.

RIDGE BOARD - Board placed at peak of roof to support one end of roof rafters. Other end of roof rafter is attached to double top plate.
RISER -The vertical section of a step in a staircase.

Ridge Board - A horizontal board that serves as the apex of the roof structure.
Ridge Vent - A vent mounted along the entire ridge line of the roof to allow the passage of air through the attic or cathedral ceiling.

Ridge Board - The board against which the tips of rafters are fastened, the top line of a roof.
Ridge Boston - Applying asphalt or wood shingles at the ridge or at the hips of a roof as a finish.

Ridge Board
A ridge board is a horizontal member that forms a lateral tie to make rafters secure.
Hip
A hip is like a ridge, except that it slopes. It is the intersection of two adjacent, rather than two opposite, roof planes.


Ridge Board - The board that follows along the ridge.

Roof Rafters - The structural members that support the roof.

Ridge board must be at least same depth (or greater) as the plumb cut end of intersecting rafters.
Check rafters installed 24″ O.C., or per plan. (i.e., 12″, 16″, 19.2″, or 24″) ...

Ridge board - The horizontal board along the line of the ridge - normally along the top of the rafters or trusses.

RIDGE BOARD: A board running the length of the ridge of the roof, to which rafters are fastened.

RIDGE VENT: continuous, prefabricated outlet ventilator placed over an opening at the ridge of the roof line to allow the release of air.

RIDGE BOARD-The horizontal structural member at the top of a roof where the rafters meet.
ROOF PITCH-The degree of slope of a roof.

ridge board (planche faîtière, f.) A horizontal member, usually 18 mm thick, at the upper end of the rafters, to which these rafters are nailed.

Once that dormer ridge board is nailed in, each valley rafter can be cut. The valley rafters form the slope (valley) where the dormer roof meets the main roof.

Rafter (22) - One of a series of structural roof members spanning an exterior wall to a center ridge beam or ridge board.
Reinforced concrete rods - Concrete strengthened with steel.

Ridge Board
The board that runs along the top edge of all the rafters of a roof and holds them in place. (For picture see plumb cut.)
Rim Board
The box joist usually tying together engineered I-Joists around their perimeter.

The plumb cut creates a line that is perfectly plumb, and is used where the roof rafter contacts the ridge board at the top of the roof.
